mobiles 2

students recieve several circles in different sizes and colors. on each circle they make a different
design. students then take a string and make several knots up and down it to put circles on. a slit is cut in each circle to the middle and they are folded over to pop up in the center. fold around string above know and staple together for hanging mobile.

torn paper bugs

students choose a bug design to create and make in by folding and tearing strips of paper - no scissors allowed! show multiple folding for clean tear techniques. more than one color can be used is desired.

animal pictures 2

students select their favorite animal from zoo or from pictures and draw them. show crayon blending and white crayon blending for coloring techniques.

portfolio 2

students create a folder to store their assignments w/ name, grade level, and class. docoration added to tastes.

draw the rules contest 2

students are told about the classroom rules and draw a picture of one or more of the rules for a prize. encourages understanding and memorization of rules. do at beginning of year and at semester for reminder.

drug free lettering poem 2

students write a first letter poem about being drug free with a decorative first letter.

khamsa 2

for black history. good luck charms. hole punches circles for outer pattern. cut and glue hand w/ marker and glitter designs for added effect. a radial design should be places within the palm and patterns up fingers.

space drawings 2

drawings of outer space/night sky/ planets with oil pastel on black paper. use smearing techniques to do comets or cosmic swirls.

geometric organic color wheel 2

students are to make a 6 pie circle and in each slot make either a geometric or an organic shape - alternating each. once shapes are in place students create a color wheel mixing colors and having primary in organic and secondary in geometric.

cool colors warm colors 2

students are given graph paper and create 2 or more shapes/shadows over grid. they then choose 2 warm colors and 2 cool colors to color it in switching when a line from the shape crosses the grid.

3d house 2

student fold two peices of paper in half and then draw each side of a home. decorate w/ added details around house, color and tape together so it's a standing cube. roof optional.

color graph / math 2

students create venn diagram to display how colors mix.

half face drawing 2

head shape is folded in half and a different face is drawn on each half. students can additionally trade halves to compare faces together.

contour line designs 2

teach differences of contour and geometric. use patterning in coloring of designs.

mutliple contour line designs 2

show how contour designs can intersect to create a more interesting picture. patterning in coloring.
