students are told about the classroom rules and draw a picture of one or more of the rules for a prize. encourages understanding and memorization of rules. do at beginning of year and at semester for reminder.

word fish 4


students draw a large fish and fill with bubble letters labeling each part. coloring to be done with words in one shade on a color and background in another.

created from templates, 4 and 6 fold designs.

shadow color wheel 4


students learn about outlines, shapes and shadows and use this knowledge to design an object. this object is replicated in 6 colors and put together to create a color wheel.

sand paintings 4


students take a circle and cover it with mirrored designs. they then draw in or fill with a light layer of glue then pour colored sand over the glue. colors are switched and the process is repeated until the entire circle is filled.

monochromatic scenes 4


students draw some type of scene or picture and decorate it in monochromatic tones.

stencil animal drawing 4

for use with animal habitat projects. students draw animals and then erase where parts touch or connect to add stencil effect.

animal habitat pattern 4


students learn how to do carbons to create a replicated image of both an animal and a habitat. they either place each square exactly the same or use techniques to mirror image their subjects. colors should be chosen based on subjects. shadowing and outlines only - use stencils to show the look we are trying to achieve.

mother's day flower bouquet 4


tissue flowers make by wrapping multiple papers over finger and pressing into glue. flowers can also be made by balling up small tissue sheets and arranging in a flower shape. encourage students to create other flowers on their own with small tissue squares.

hands/feet falling/jumping people 4




students trace thier hands and feet onto corners of paper. cross paper with a block-letter X to create body. add head and then details (pockets, seams, jewelry, tshirt designs, cuffs, etc). add background. suggest outline marker color crayon but can be done otherwise.
