students are told about the classroom rules and draw a picture of one or more of the rules for a prize. encourages understanding and memorization of rules. do at beginning of year and at semester for reminder.

students draw pictures of things seen in the sky. cover whole page and roll together and glue for tube. add streamer to bottom and string up to ceiling.

lantern p-k


full sheet fold in half, then fold top inch and bottom inch. decorate as wanted and then cut slip to top and bottom inches. wrap around and tape edges together in lantern shape. hang for display.

color pictures p-k



students select their favorite color and must draw three objects that represent that color.

footprints p-k

students make footprints by making a fist and dipping pinkie side of hand into paint. it is then pressed onto paper and toe prints are added with finger tips.

leaf family p-k


students are given pre cut leaves to decorate as clothing. they are glued to paper and arms, legs, faces and hair are added to create a family portrait. encourage students to make their own family.

hand tree p-k



students trace hand and cut out in several fall colors. hands are glues onto tree trunk to look like leaves. lines can be added to look like leaf veins.

assemble to create cat. add features like claws and whiskers with white crayon. roll 1/2 circel around to make into hat.

students decorate a circle w/ shapes or scales. they are then given a tail, fin, and lips to assemble to fish shape.

students are given large half circle to design hat. add glitter, paint pen, streamers or strings to taste. adult staples together and adds string.

teach how to pinch, roll, and snake clay to make flowers

half circle for body - add eyes, legs, pincers. cut slit to middle and twist around to pop up body. hang for display.

students create rainbow with cut squares of paper by gluing together.

give students various wooden blocks to play with. give each student a ruler and show them how to measure. at certain point they must build a structure to a certain height or width.

talk about different feelings and color associated words (seeing red, feeling blue) read many colored days. have each child design expression on gingerbread person (happy, sad, lonely, funny etc) and color it to express that feeling.
